The Lord Jesus Christ spoke more often about hell than he did heaven. The logical reason for this is because he doesn't want you to go there, and his teachings on this subject should be considered stem warnings. Men today laugh about hell, they tell others to go there, and in their own mind they do away with it. But here is the grim reality ... the fires of hell still burn. You will be an unwelcome guest in hell, for hell was originally prepared for the devil and his angels, according to Matthew 25:41. What is the sin so great that it would send somebody to hell?  If you die and go to hell, the ONLY reason you are there is because you have rejected Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son… “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.  What a beautiful verse. But there is also a dark side to this verse. Look at the word "perish." Perish does not mean "annihilation." Perish means that you are eternally separated from God.

I have heard some people say that a loving God would not allow anyone to go to hell. My friend, if you were to end up in hell that would be by your choice only. God is ... not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 So you see, the choice is yours. Hell was not created for parties or reunions with friends and family as I have heard so often stated. On the contrary, you will be quite miserable and in torments for an eternity. Jesus describes hell as "outer darkness" where there will be "weeping and gnashing of teeth" in Matt.8:12, 22:13, 25:30. Mark 9:43-48 describes hell as "unquenchable fire." 2 Peter 2:4 calls it "chains of darkness."  There will be no second chances. You will live for an eternity with the choice you have made. Don't let the pleasures of sin in this life destroy your everlasting soul for all eternity. Jesus is waiting for you to ask him to forgive you of your sins. Remember, there are no second chances. 2 Thessalonians 1:9,  "Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power". Psalm 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

In closing, Luke 16:19-31, is a very chilling and graphic account of hell spoken of by Jesus: There is no social status in hell. You are as alive in hell as you are right now. You will be in torments.

(The word "torments" here is taken from the Greek word baganos. It means to receive the absolute maximum of pain, to receive the most extensive torture that can be applied to a person.)

You will cry. You will thirst for water, and there is no water. You will be surrounded by fire. You will pray. But those prayers will go unheard. You will remember in hell. Your memory goes with you. You will remember all the chances you had to accept Jesus as your Savior. Too late, the word "torment" is mentioned 3 times in this short passage. You will spend eternity in the "lake of fire." Would you like to get off of that hell bound train you're on? Ask God to save you by praying this prayer: Dear God, I realize I am a sinner on my way to hell. I believe your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of my sins, and he was buried, and rose 3 days later to make a home for me in heaven. Please forgive me, and save me from my sins. Come into my heart and turn my life around. In Jesus name, Amen.
